Air Force Hosts Navy as Market Adjusts to Quarterback Usage

Air Force quarterback Liam Szarka has accumulated 54 rushing attempts over his last two games, commanding an offense that has nudged the betting market toward the Falcons. The line opened at 1.5 before moving to Air Force -3.0, while the total dropped six full points from 51.5 to 45.5 ahead of Saturday's matchup against Navy. With both service academies heavily reliant on ground volume from their quarterbacks, the market reflects a tightly contested, low-possession game script.

Szarka's Heavy Volume Shapes Air Force

Air Force's offensive output in recent weeks has revolved around Liam Szarka. Across two games, Szarka has carried the ball 54 times for 259 yards and three touchdowns, while completing 10 of 22 pass attempts for 195 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He spearheads a backfield that distributes secondary touches among several options: Owen Allen has logged 24 carries for 82 yards, Rocco Conti has added 86 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries (plus one reception for 21 yards), and Kemper Hodges has rushed 16 times for 72 yards and a touchdown.

In the passing game, Simon Kibbee leads the receiving unit with four catches for 80 yards over two games. Backup quarterback Evan Medders saw action on Sept. 12, completing 3 of 4 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown while adding 31 rushing yards on six carries. Air Force enters on seven days of rest following a 36-33 road victory over Nevada on Sept. 26.

Gutierrez Drives Navy's Offense

Navy relies on a similarly quarterback-centric approach behind Jackson Gutierrez. In two games, Gutierrez has rushed 41 times for 209 yards and two touchdowns, complemented by 10-of-25 passing for 204 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Navy's backfield depth features Michael Barrow, who has turned 16 carries into 87 yards alongside one 12-yard catch, and Vic Listorti, who has recorded 64 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries to go with three receptions for 55 yards.

Charles Robinson has contributed as a multi-purpose target, recording four rushes for 24 yards and four receptions for 36 yards with a touchdown. In earlier action on Sept. 12, Braxton Woodson posted 96 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries while throwing for 47 yards and an interception on 3-of-11 passing, and Jordan Collins caught two passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Navy has eight days of rest following a 24-20 loss at UAB on Sept. 25.

Market Adjustment and Recent Form

The market shift from Air Force +1.5 to Air Force -3.0 aligns with a sharp drop in the total, down from 51.5 to 45.5 across major sportsbooks. That downward movement on the total reflects expected clock control from both option-based attacks. Looking at recent team results—which early in the 2026 season reach back into late 2025 and Navy's Jan. 2, 2026 bowl victory over Cincinnati—both programs have played close contests against quality opposition.

Player Team Touches (Rush/Rec) Total Yards Total TDs
Liam Szarka Air Force 54 / 0 259 3
Jackson Gutierrez Navy 41 / 0 209 2
Rocco Conti Air Force 15 / 1 107 1
Vic Listorti Navy 11 / 3 119 1

With the spread stabilized around Air Force -3.0, the market expects Szarka and Gutierrez to dictate tempo in a low-scoring, possession-starved environment.
